Come walking with us and keep fit all year round !

This website has been created for the benefit of both existing and prospective members.

New members are always made very welcome and we hope that by exploring this site you will be tempted to join us. Please click on the drop down tab, labelled ‘Thinking of joining?’ at the top of the page, for more detailed information.

We are a dynamic group based, as our name suggests, in Mid Staffordshire. We organise regular half and full day walks of various lengths, usually within a fifty mile radius of Stafford, although we do stray further afield on occasions.

Details of all our walks, including a map of each area can be accessed by clicking on the walk in the 'Future Walks', listed at the top of this page.

We publish a planned Walks Programme and a Newsletter every 4 months.  Subsequent amendments are reported in the 'News' section at the top of this page.

Personal notifications will be sent out by email to all those who have supplied an email address.

If you would also like to receive updates by email, then please send your address to either 'Membership' or 'Webmaster', using the addresses given in 'Links' at the top of this page.

News, amendments  and reminders:-

The latest Newsletter has just been sent out. If you don't receive either an emailed or hard copy version, please let a member of the committee know.

Reference has been made in the newsletter to the offer of a discount, in 'Outdoor Leisure'. Unfortunately, because Danny and his shop has been a good friend to our group, it appears that 'Outdoor Leisure' has ceased trading. If it re-opens we let you know as soon as we are advised.

Coach Ramble.  We have been invited to join Stafford Ramblers trip to Betws-y-coed and Bodnant Gardens.

The coach will be setting off from Stafford Station at 8.00 a.m on the 2nd July.  There will be two walks in the beautiful scenery of Betws-y-coed, the long  will be approx 10 miles and the short approx 7 miles.  Both will start at Betws-y-coed and finish in plenty of time for the all important tea before our journey home at 5 p.m.  Non walkers will continue on to the beautiful National Trust Bodnant Gardens. They will return to Betws-y-coed to pick up the walkers.  The cost will be £18 which must be paid by the 31st May. This does not include admission to Bodnant.

There are only 20 seats available, so you may need to move fast to secure a place.

Please send a cheque made out to ‘Stafford Rambling Group’ to: Chris Wiggin, 10 Lineker Close, Stafford ST16 1AL

Details required when booking are:Name(s)/Address/Phone number/Number of Places required

As you will see from the 'Future Walks' box, on theleft hand side of this page, we have an extensive walk programme to offer to existing and potential members.

Carole Pattison, who has recently taken on the role of organising Short and Medium length walks, has provided an excellent mix of walks thanks to the support given to her by many Walk Leaders.

She has initially taken on the role on a short term basis ,with a view to making it a more permanent position, subject to the support given to her by the walk leaders, who have done her proud and by the membership who can support her by joining as many of the walks as they are able to.

Carole can be contacted on 01785 602 304 or

Changes to the walk programme published in our Newsletter

19th July. The starting point for the walk from the Great Haywood Farm shop is at map reference SJ995230, not SJ230995, as listed.

Walk leaders log sheets are available by clicking here: print a copy and use one for each walk to be led.
